Frances "Fran" Lockwood is a minor character from Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. She is the late mother of Flint and the wife of Tim.
Appearance[]
Fran has blue eyes and black hair. It is straight on the top and curly on the bottom and it is held by a blue headband. She wears a white shirt with an orange collar and flower-like shapes, green pants held by a brown belt, and black shoes.
Personality[]
Unlike her husband Tim, Fran always believed in her son and thought he could do big things one day.
She is known as an loving, encouraging, supportive, friendly, and caring mother. She was the main reason why Flint became a scientist.
Biography[]
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs[]
When Flint returns to his room crestfallen after the failure of his invention Spray-On Shoes, Fran enters his room and says that she thinks his shoes are wonderful. Flint responds that everyone thinks he is a weirdo, but she responds that the people that he developed an interest in were probably weirdos as well and gives Flint a professional-grade lab coat, which was meant to be a gift for his birthday. Fran expresses her belief in her son and hopes he could do big things someday, and they hug.
Later in the film, when Flint tries to convince his dad that his invention, the FLDSMDFR, can work, he reveals that Fran died nearly 10 years ago.
At the end of the film, after Flint saved the world from his invention, Tim said that if she were alive, she’d tell them “I told you so”.
She appears in the end credits as a ghost, referencing her death.
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2[]
She appears in a flashback to when she gave Flint the coat in the first film and is mentioned by Tim when he said that he would rather die on the same island he was born on.
