Ghostbusters: Ecto Force is an upcoming animated series based on the Ghostbusters franchise, set in the future. It is currently unknown when the show will premiere.
Development[]
In 2016, plans to create an animated Ghostbusters series titled "Ghostbusters: Ecto Force" were high alongside an animated movie. It was described by Ivan Reitman that it was "based on the movie" and would keep track of the Ghostbusters' presence in the public eye[1], and go into detail with ghost lore from all over the world[2]. The following year, it was described that it would be "futuristic" and take place twenty years from now. Tom Waltz also mentioned that he and IDW had some work done early on.[3]
On June 8 2022, it was reported that Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan are set to produce an animated Ghostbusters series for Netflix. It is currently unknown if Ecto Force is back in production or if a different show is being made altogether.[4]
Trivia[]
- The show is currently on hold to focus on releasing the animated movie first. [5]
- Logo concept sketches for the show exist on Ron McPherson's website, and they date back to 2016. [6]
