K-Pop: Demon Hunters is an upcoming American animated musical comedy film produced by Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures Animation, and distributed by Netflix. It will be directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans and written by Hannah McMechan and Danya Jimenez, with Michelle L.M. Wong serving as producer.

It is scheduled to be released in late 2025.[1]

The film follows a world-renowned K-Pop girl group as they balance their lives in the spotlight with their secret identities as demon hunters, set against a colorful backdrop of fashion, food, style and music.

On March 8, 2021, it was announced that development had begun on a new musical film from Sony Pictures Animation titled K-Pop: Demon Hunters, with Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans directing, Aron Warner producing, and Hannah McMechan and Danya Jimenez writing the screenplay. Additionally, Mingjue Helen Chen and Ami Thompson serve as production designer and art director, respectively.[2][3]

Release[]

K-Pop: Demon Hunters is scheduled to be released on Netflix in the United States on an unspecified date in 2025.[4] In April 2022, the film was moved to the streaming service.[5]

Trivia[]

  • It will be Sony Pictures Animation's fourth film to be released on Netflix, following The Mitchells vs. the Machines, Wish Dragon (which Appelhans had previously directed), and Vivo (all 2021).
  • The film homages co-director Maggie Kang's Korean roots and her love of the K-Pop music genre.[6]
