KPop Demon Hunters is an upcoming American animated musical fantasy film produced by Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures Animation, and distributed by Netflix. It was directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, the former of whom also wrote the story, as well as the screenplay with Appelhans, Hannah McMechan, and Danya Jimenez. Michelle L.M. Wong served as producer. It stars the voices of Arden Cho, May Hong, Ji-young Yoo, Ahn Hyo-seop, Yunjin Kim, Joel Kim Booster, Liza Koshy, Daniel Dae Kim, Ken Jeong, and Byung-hun Lee.
The film is scheduled to be released on Netflix on June 20, 2025.[1]
Premise[]
When they aren't selling out stadiums, K-pop superstars Rumi, Mira and Zoey use their secret identities as badass demon hunters to protect their fans from an ever-present supernatural threat. Together, they must face their biggest enemy yet – an irresistible rival boy band of demons in disguise.[2]

On March 8, 2021, it was announced that Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans would direct KPop Demon Hunters for Sony Pictures Animation, with Aron Warner producing. Mingjue Helen Chen and Ami Thompson serve as production designer and art director, respectively.[3][2]
Release[]
KPop Demon Hunters is scheduled to be released on June 20, 2025.
In April 2022, Netflix entered negotiations to acquire the film's distribution rights.[4] In February 2023, it was reported that the film had been sold to Netflix.[5] In June 2024, it was announced that the film would be released in 2025.[6] In April 2025, animator Pep Lluis Lladó confirmed that production had wrapped and the film would release in June.[7] Later that month, it was announced for a release date of June 20, 2025.
