An untitled animated Ghostbusters movie is set to be produced by Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures Animation in association with Ghost Corps and The Montecito Picture Company, and will be distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing.

- On March 8th 2016, the director was confirmed to be Fletcher Moules [1], known for animating the Clash of Clans advertisements.
- On October 9th 2017, it was said that the movie will indeed focus on a ghost's perspective, although unconfirmed if it's a new or returning character. It is also said the movie would harken back to the spirit of The Real Ghostbusters, an animated series based off the franchise from 1986 to 1991. [2]

- The movie has been in development since 2015, while the reboot was still being made.
- It is possible that the movie's development might depend on the success of Ghostbusters: Afterlife, a direct sequel to the original two movies.
- It is rumored that the movie might be animated by the same crew as Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. [3]
