During a flashback, Kingpin and Spider-Man were fighting each other. Vanessa and Richard saw Fisk trying to kill Spider-Man, so they fleed from him but died in a car crash. So, Kingpin built a machine called the Super-Collider, to try to bring his wife and son back.
